Ben's
NEON
Dog & Pony
 SHOW

STUDIO EXPERIENCE

In my mind, the word "presentation" brings up the notion of being present with others, so I'll call this my "Presentation" department.

Ben's neon workshop - Lighting designer masters program - The Lighting Research Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute  Troy, NY

This is the place where I depart from "self indulgent artist type" and blossom into someone with a life of artwork and related experiences to share with others in the spirit of creativity.

Ben's workshop - Corning Museum of Glass - Corning, NY

My intentions are of heightening an awareness of ourselves in the world around us by paying a visit to our essential origin as expressive human beings.

And of course, you'll also see plenty of beautiful neon sculpture and learn a thing or two about how my neon is made... The point here though, isn't just to learn about my art, it's for you to learn more about YOU and yours!

IN OTHER WORDS...

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

-PABLO PICASSO

YOUR STUDIO EXPERIENCE

Consists of you arriving at my studio in the heart of Austin, Texas, where I'll give a tour of the shop. I'll explain how my neon works, show you all of the phosphorescent minerals that I use, kind of like a celestial paint set and then we'll talk about the artwork.
You'll see.

AND THEN...
If you'd like, I'll turn on the fires and show you how to make something in glass that looks really hard to do, but is really quite easy.

This is so much fun to do, you won't believe it!

Check out all these happy campers!

Just look at the smiles on these guys faces!

Later, I'll be putting my magic opalescent mineral phosphors inside the tubes
that you made...

And then I'll go to my secret spot where the muse guides me

as I weld and blow all kinds of exotic colored glass together until a masterpiece is born that YOU helped create!

Like this one..

Or, how about this?!

OR THIS!
